It was in the days of audio typing - he used to send me down cassettes to be transformed into letters but his English was soooo terrible I used to correct it for him (he was English, btw). Up would go the letters for signing, and back down they came again with the correct English crossed out and his terrible errors reinserted ... eventually I just let him send off his crap letters, and left!
